Allen P. Wilkinson is a highly regarded legal scholar and attorney who has represented plaintiffs in complex personal injury and wrongful death litigation cases since 1979. His first 10 years of practice was spent working under the renowned San Francisco attorney Melvin Belli, the preeminent trial lawyer. Allen assisted Mr. Belli in the 1982 five-volume revision of Belli's seminal work, Modern Trials, considered the Bible of personal injury law and trial practice and procedure.

Known for his ability to translate complex legal concepts and explain them into easy to understand lay terms, Allen has written books on related subjects, including:

  • The best-selling layman's book, Everybody's Guide to the Law, which Allen co-authored with Belli In 1986, and wrote the second edition of that book in 2003.
  • The acclaimed lawyer's reference book, the two-volume California Torts. In 2003, Allen wrote a second edition of Everybody's Guide to the Law.
  • Accidents Happen But Who's Going to Pay the Bills? A Consumer's Guide to the California Personal Injury and Wrongful Death System, which Allen co-authored with Reza Torkzadeh in 2010, and contributed to the extensive 2017 update, retitled Accidents Happen - A Consumer’s Guide to the Personal Injury and Wrongful Death System.

Allen has contributed to hundreds of publications, and appeared on more than a hundred radio talk and news shows, discussing matters related to law.

In addition to being a lawyer and writer, Allen is a mediator, a legal consultant to other lawyers and law firms, and a publisher.
